Texas Terri and the Stiff Ones Any band that titles their album Eat Shit is obviously not the type to hold back. But then again, subtlety has never been a part of Texas Terris vocabulary. A twisting and writhing mess of snarling, riff-charged gutterpunk and Plasmatics-style buffoonery, Texas Terri and the Stiff Ones proudly carry the trash-rock torch lit by the Dictators, Dead Boys, and Iggy. Famed Aerosmith/John Lennon/Cheap Trick producer Jack Douglas is currently channeling the bands raunchy raw power into a new album, but in the meantime, you can find out what all the fuss is about by witnessing one of their live performances, a party that usually ends with a sweat-and-fluids-drenched Terri appearing topless (save for black electrical tape or her bands own stickers). At the climax of one of their recent sets, Terri ran across the street and entered a wet T-shirt contest alongside a bevy of jiggly blond booby traps. She won, of course, but how difficult could the choice be when it comes down to damp cotton vs. electrical tape? Jim Freek |
